To coincide with the ARTpreneur Conference, a special and unique art exhibit will be open to the public from March 17 – April 4 at the Lake of the Woods Museum.
ARTifacts: Art Exhibition
March 17 – April 4
Reception: March 31, 2009, 6:00pm – 8:00pm
This show is a gathering of artworks by a diverse group of area artists. The emphasis here is to display works wherein the artist has pushed themselves to make something challenging in terms of concept, materials, viewer bias, or a combination thereof.
As a viewer please question why the artwork is here. There is a reason. It is because the art is beautiful, expands the realm of the artists chosen medium and makes us feel. It is because it is ugly and expands our appreciation for the artists concept and our understanding of beauty. It is because it elevated the mundane... and elevates ourselves, challenging us to understand the world in a different way.
Art reflects the time and culture in which it is made. These pieces provide an artistic snapshot of Kenora in 2009, a reflection of the concerns, working processes and ideas of members of our community made real to view and contemplate.
